Vascular Model

High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation (HFOV) is a technique of increasing use in hospitals as a substitute for conventional mechanical ventilation. Through the use of synchrotron based 3D X-Ray PIV techniques this project seeks to develop a thorough understanding of the phenomena behind HFOV and the reason for its success as a ventilation method.


Simplified bronchial track model fabricated in clear acrylic, used to study the flow through the airway passages in the body.
